Categories

General

Does IPK Logistics work on mobile?

Yes. Picking and packing adapt to smaller screens, with scanner and manual entry workflows. Print picking guides from Shopify Admin on desktop. Printing is currently unavailable inside the Shopify Mobile app, on both iOS and Android.

Do I need special hardware?

Use a scanner that emits compatible keyboard input. USB, Bluetooth and integrated PDA scanners may need configuration; Bluetooth may require pairing. Manual entry is also available.

Does the app work with all Shopify plans?

Yes. IPK Logistics works with any Shopify plan that supports embedded apps and the Admin API.

Can I use the app with multiple warehouses?

Choose the Shopify stock location used by the app in setup or Settings. A physical bin location is a separate value on each product variant (ipk_logistics.bin_location). This does not imply multiple bins per variant, automatic stock distribution or advanced multi-warehouse support.

Setup

What does the initial setup wizard include?

Prepare or reuse the bin location metafield, choose barcode or SKU scanning, select the Shopify stock location, choose a picking workflow, and explicitly select packing only or packing with Shopify fulfillment. Preferences remain editable in Settings.

What is a metafield and why do I need to create one?

A metafield is a custom data field in Shopify. IPK Logistics stores the warehouse location directly on each product variant as a metafield. This means the data is native to Shopify — visible in your admin, exportable, and it survives app reinstalls. You only need to create it once.

What format should my CSV file be?

Your CSV must include a header row. Required columns: location and at least one of sku or barcode. You can include all three. The app matches variants by barcode first, then by SKU as fallback. Example: sku, barcode, location / SKU-001,1234567890,A-01-03

Can I update locations after the initial import?

Yes. Re-import a CSV at any time — it overwrites existing locations for matched variants. You can also edit a location directly on the product page in Shopify admin, since it's stored as a native metafield on the variant.

Inbound

What does the Inbound feature manage?

Inbound helps you manage incoming stock from suppliers with purchase orders, product quantities, costs, taxes, shipping, tracking, expected arrival dates, barcode receiving, and putaway into bin locations.

Can I check received products against a supplier purchase order?

Yes. The team can receive products by barcode, SKU scan, or manual quantity entry, then compare ordered, received, and remaining quantities so partial deliveries and missing products are easy to spot.

When is Shopify inventory updated?

Inventory is updated when received products are arranged into their physical warehouse location during putaway, so stock is not made available before it is actually in place.

Picking

Can I pick one order without containers?

Yes. Choose Order-by-order picking and packing (simplified picking & packing) in setup or Settings. Select an order, confirm quantities or report issues, select Complete Picking when the items are handled, and continue to packing. Cart and box identification is only needed for the corresponding round workflows.

Can I add picking status tags?

Yes. Picking status tags can be configured in Settings. Packing tags are optional and separate: IPK: Packed or IPK: Partially packed.

What's the difference between Cart mode and Box mode?

Cart mode identifies a cart and uses numbered positions for orders. Box mode identifies each box individually so it can be opened independently for packing. Scanning a cart opens its orders; it does not fulfill the whole cart in a single atomic action. Both modes require item verification before packing.

Can I pick more than one round at a time?

Each round is independent. You can have multiple rounds in progress, but a single order can only belong to one active picking round.

What happens if I can't find a product?

Use the Report Issue button to mark the item as Stock Error, Damaged, or Missing. Select Complete Picking when all items are handled. Packing can be partial relative to the original order; Shopify fulfillment only follows when that mode is selected.

How are items sorted during picking?

Products are grouped by variant and sorted by bin location, with handling for empty locations and product title as a secondary sort. This is a location-based list, not mathematical route optimization.

Fulfillment

What does Mark as packed only do?

After physical item verification, IPK saves packing and finishes its work without creating Shopify fulfillment, updating tracking or notifying the customer. You handle shipping in Shopify or your existing process. Optional packing tags are separate Shopify writes; this is not an automatic integration with another shipping app.

Does packed mean fulfilled or shipped?

No. Packing records verified physical quantities; fulfillment records the Shopify task. Missing picked units can make packing partial relative to the original order. The packing queue shows separate states; external means IPK is not responsible for fulfillment, not that another app has shipped the order.

Will changing packing settings fulfill previously packed orders?

No. Previously packed orders keep their recorded mode. Changing the preference does not send them to Shopify retroactively.

Which shipping carriers are supported?

Over 50 carriers are auto-detected from tracking codes, including UPS, USPS, FedEx, DHL (Express, eCommerce, Paket), TNT, GLS, Royal Mail, Evri, PostNL, Colissimo, Chronopost, BRT, Poste Italiane, SEUR, Correos, CTT, PostNord, Swiss Post, Canada Post, Correios, and many more. You can always manually select a carrier if auto-detection doesn't match. Carrier detection does not buy labels, calculate postage or provide carrier contracts.

Can I fulfill orders without tracking?

Yes. Tracking information is optional — you can fulfill an order without entering a tracking number. If you need to add tracking later, you can do so directly from the order details page in Shopify admin.

What does "Release Container" do?

It frees the physical container (cart or box) for reuse and marks the order's fulfillment status as "skipped." The order remains unfulfilled in Shopify — you can fulfill it later through other means.

Billing

What happens after the trial if I have no subscription?

The dashboard asks you to choose a plan and provides support. Installation alone does not authorize automatic billing on day 16.

How does the 15-day trial work?

The shop receives a 15-day trial when its app configuration is first created, without choosing a paid plan. To continue afterwards, choose and approve a subscription through Shopify. A subscription approved during the trial uses the remaining days; it does not restart 15 days. Reinstalling does not create a new trial.

Can I switch plans mid-cycle?

Yes. Use the Subscription page and review the billing terms shown by Shopify before approving the new plan.

How does usage billing work?

Basic includes 750 orders for USD 9.99/month, Pro 3,000 for USD 24.99/month and Enterprise 7,500 for USD 49.99/month. Usage is based on orders entered into picking during the usage period, not only successful shipment. Packing and fulfillment do not each add another charge for the same picking record. Extra usage costs USD 0.01/order. Contact support about cancellations or reprocessing.

What happens if I exceed my plan's order limit?

Orders above the included allowance cost USD 0.01 each. You can review your usage and available plans on the Subscription page in the app.

Data & Privacy

Is my data secure?

Yes. Warehouse locations are stored directly in your Shopify store as native metafields. Operational data is stored securely on our servers and all communication follows Shopify's security standards.

What happens if I uninstall the app?

Bin location metafields remain on your Shopify product variants. The uninstall webhook removes authentication sessions; operational records are deleted when the separate Shopify shop redaction webhook is processed. These are separate events, not a guaranteed deletion deadline measured from uninstall. See the Privacy Policy for details.

How long is data retained?

The published operational retention policy is six months. Contact support for historical data requests and retention details. The catalog CSV export covers current products and bin locations, not an operational-history archive. Bin metafields remain in Shopify after uninstall and can be edited or deleted there.
